Kerry Phillips, RD, LDN
Kerry Phillips is a registered and licensed dietitian with experience in clinical nutrition, health communications and corporate wellness. In her role at Personalized Nutrition, Kerry provides pre-and post-bariatric surgery counseling and currently sees patients at our office in Raleigh.

Kerry combines her evidence-based nutrition knowledge with her understanding of consumer behavior to craft science-based, actionable strategies to motivate and empower clients to reach their health, nutrition and fitness-related goals. From weight loss to the successful management of food allergies, Kerry is passionate about equipping her clients with the tools and knowledge to make informed and healthful food choices that can be sustained for a lifetime.

Prior to joining Personalized Nutrition in 2011, Kerry served as a program manager at the International Food Information Council (IFIC), a non-profit food and health communications organization in Washington, DC. At IFIC, she developed science-based communication materials and managed education and outreach efforts to a variety of audiences, including health professionals and consumers. Kerry began her career as a clinical dietitian at a long-term care facility where she was responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to mitigate a variety of chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Kerry earned her Bachelor�s of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise with a concentration in Dietetics at Virginia Tech and also completed her dietetic internship with the Northern Virginia-based Virginia Tech Dietetic Internship Program. Kerry is a member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), and her state affiliate, the North Carolina Dietetic Association (NCDA). She enjoys playing soccer, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and her puppy, Fiona.

Sue Strom, MS, RD, LDN
Sue is a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist. She received her Bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in economics from the State University of New York at Geneseo. In 2000, she decided to put her love of health and fitness to use and became an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer. She continues to maintain that certification. After working as a personal trainer for a number of years and knowing that nutrition is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle, she decided to continue her education in order to become a registered dietitian. Sue completed her dietetic internship at Meredith College where she will receive her master of science in nutrition in December of 2010. She joined the Personalized Nutrition team in 2009.

Sue believes that an active lifestyle is within everyone's reach no matter what their fitness level and that adopting a healthy lifestyle now is preventative medicine for the future. She strives to educate her clients about the health benefits of good nutrition and how they can incorporate physical activity into their busy lives. Her experience includes working with developmentally disabled patients in a group home setting as a member of the clinical team as well as working with clients in the areas of weight management, bariatric surgery, and those with compulsive overeating issues. Given her background in fitness, she has a special interest in working with athletes to help them achieve optimum performance.

Sue is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition practice group.

Katherine Zavodni, MPH, RD, LDN
Katherine Zavodni is a registered and licensed dietitian with degrees in English and Public Health Nutrition. Katherine helps clients struggling with weight and eating issues and related health concerns achieve their personal wellness goals. She also works with individuals to overcome eating disorders and develop a healthier relationship with food and with self. Katherine's goal is to empower people to take responsibility for their own health and make gradual changes toward a healthier lifestyle. She firmly believes that the nutrition treatment plan must be tailored to meet the needs of each unique individual.
 
Katherine strives to help her clients achieve holistic wellness, in which the body, mind, and spirit are nourished and thriving. She believes that if any of these elements is neglected, the whole person will suffer. She is committed to working with people to create a nutrition plan that is sustainable and supportive of this balance. In keeping with this philosophy, she generally finds a moderate and flexible approach to nutrition to be the most effective.

Katherine is a member of the American Dietetic Association, the North Carolina Dietetic Association, and the Durham/Chapel Hill Dietetic Association. She is also a member of the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine dietetic practice group of the ADA. In her free time, she enjoys reading fiction, cooking meals for her family, going for walks, and spending time with her husband and baby girl.

Parul Kharod, MS, RD, LDN

Parul Kharod, MS, RD, LDN
Parul Kharod is a registered dietitian and a licensed nutritionist. She received her Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, and her Master's degree in dietetics from India. She completed her dietetic internship through Meredith College, Raleigh.
 
Having lived across four continents, Parul truly has a global perspective about food and eating habits. She has had the opportunity to live in Kenya and France, and has moved across many states of the US. She understands ethnic foods and cultural habits, and assists people in making appropriate changes to their diets while still conforming to their cultural preferences.

Being an avid cook, Parul's passion is tasty and nutritious vegetarian food. She loves to experiment in the kitchen, and helps people by teaching them how to modify recipes to make them healthier.

Diabetes management, heart healthy menu planning, geriatric, and pediatric diet planning, are some of the areas that Parul has worked in. She can assist clients with all aspects of nutrition, and guide them to adopt healthy permanent lifestyle changes.

Parul lives in Cary with her husband and daughter.

Kristen Taylor, RD, LDN
Kristen Taylor is a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist who earned her Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition from Appalachian State University. She completed her Dietetic Internship through North Carolina Central University.

Kristen has worked as a Clinical Dietitian for 3 years; her inpatient experience has included nutrition support, renal, surgery, cardiac and diabetes patients. Her philosophy is educating clients to develop a balance between exercise and nutrition to create a healthy lifestyle. She feels passionate about her clients understanding the importance of all things in moderation. She enjoys educating people on there current disease condition and providing a nutrition intervention.

Kristen enjoys spending time her with family and friends, traveling and working out.

Lori Alizieri Stevens

Lori A. Stevens, RD, LDN
After earning a degree in business from Fairfield University, Lori Alizieri Stevens returned to school to earn a second degree in Foods and Nutrition from Meredith College. Her passion for nutrition was discovered while living overseas, where she learned about nutrition and its effects on the disease process in illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. Lori was impressed by a dietitians' ability to help people live healthier, more productive lives.     
 
Lori believes very strongly that nutrition education is the key to optimal health. She understands that people are bombarded with confusing and sometimes false messages about nutrition. As a nutritionist, Lori can help sort through these messages and find the true facts. She will also provide encouragement and support that will help you succeed no matter what your nutrition goals. You are never too old or too young to improve your diet and make a lifestyle change. 

Lori assists people in overcoming eating disorders. Her goal is to aid clients in recognizing food as necessary for health and teaching clients to develop a positive relationship with food.  She focuses on supporting and educating patients throughout the recovery process.
 
As a recreational runner and cyclist, Lori has a special interest in sports nutrition. Nutrition and physical activity go hand in hand and athletes of all levels need proper nutrition to optimize performance. Lori's work experience includes EFNEP (NC Cooperative Extension's Food and Nutrition Education Program) and WakeMed Cary Hospital. Lori lives in Apex, NC with her husband and three children.

Bhuvana Parmar, MS, RD, LDN

Bhuvana Parmar, MS, RD, LDN
Bhuvana Parmar received her bachelor degree in Food Science and Quality Control, and Master's of Sciences degree in Foods and Nutrition from India. She relocated to Raleigh NC in 2000. After coming to USA, she continued her education and achieved certificate in Core Concept in Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill and her dietetic internship from Meredith College, Raleigh, NC    
 
Bhuvana is currently working as registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital, Dunn, NC. She works as outpatient as well as inpatient dietitian with various clientele on Weight Management, Diabetes, Renal Disease, Hypertension, Heart Healthy Meal Planning, and Gastrointestinal Disease such as Celiac Disease; she also performs individual and group nutritional counseling in Cardiac Rehab.  With her vast areas of expertise, she can assist you in any aspects of the food and nutrition to achieve your goals of better health.
 
Besides the work, she enjoys spending time with her 3-year old daughter and husband. Bhuvana likes coaching healthy lifestyles to children and adults by promoting the importance of healthy meal planning and physical activity to improve the quality of life. She believes that the life is good and healthy eating makes it better!
